Erwin Rommel
One of Germany’s greatest military minds, Erwin Rommel, was born on November 15th in 1891. His father and mother, Erwin and Helene, also had three other children, Karl, Gerhard, and Helene. Rommel’s childhood was marked by a fascination with engineering, however his father steered him towards a career in the military. Rommel joined the military and was soon sent to Officer cadet school.
Soon after, Rommel met his future wife, Lucie Marie Mollin. They were wed in spite of infedelities by Rommel that resulted in the birth of his first child. He and Lucie would also have a child of their own.
Rommel found himself on the front lines of World War I, with the Alpen Korps, as a commissioned officer. Rommel was highly decorated for his actions in the war. After the war he continued to serve in the Army as a battalion commander. He was also chosen to be an instructor of future German soldiers at several schools. He also was able to publish a collection of his diaries from his time as a soldier on the battlefield, this publication would later be used as a required text in some German
