Quinton Tarantino’s most recent film, Inglorious Basterds, starring Brad Pitt is doing quite well in the box office. In its first ten days in theaters the film has made $73.8 million dollars.
The plot of the film involves a select group of soldiers who hide among the German population and bring terror into the hearts of German soldiers through their horror inspiring methods.
Contrary to popular belief, Tarantino’s movie is not a remake of Enzo G. Castellari’s 1978 war flick “The Inglorious Bastards” (note the difference in spelling?). Instead it’s a Tarantino-esque fantastic vision of WWII and history.
Brad Pitt and the other supporting actors are fantastic, but Christoph Waltz as the SS officer, Col. Hans Landa, definitely steals the show. This movie is worth the watch, just to see his performance alone. Oscar material, for sure!
The success of this movie shows that there is still a great interest in the Great War and that money can still be made using the War as a backdrop for film.
